BioHello! This journal is primarily to keep notes on the progress of my senior thesis, an untitled novel that I am calling 'Ruby' for now.
'Ruby' is a young adult fantasy story centering around Ruby Holiday, a member of the illustrious Holidays. In her world, magic is very real, but because of a failed contract between its users and humans, the magical creatures have sequestered themselves away in six great cities, hidden in plain sight across the world.
The Holidays, an enormous extended family of scholars, sorcerers, archaologists, politicians and peacekeepers remain the only humans in constant mutual contact with the magical world. But when the Holidays begin disappearing, one by one, Ruby must reconcile the secretive cultures of the magical world, the unfamiliar and baffling ways of the human world, and her own place, wedged between them in order to solve the mystery and save her illustrious family, and possibly the world as a whole.
